NURSING UPDATE: NARS – Nurses Assigned in Rural Services
February 11, 2009
News Press Release: February 9, 2009
The Philippine government has enacted through the approval of President Macapagal-Arroyo, the new program for nurses. The program is entitled NARS, acronym for Nurses Assigned in Rural Services.
As we all know, in the past December board exam, almost 88,000+ nursing students took the board examination. This only means that there is a possibility of having additional 88,000+ nurses in the next few months. Everybody seems to be eager with the results and yet most of these eager students are unsure of where to go after passing the board exams.
Contrary to the fact that nurses can easily go to the US and other Westernized countries, most nurses are staying in the Philippines partly because of the recession but mostly because they are inexperienced or lack expertise. These conditions leave a lot of nurses unemployed. If not unemployed, they end up in call centers and medical transcription offices just to suffice their living condition. Some would enroll themselves as fellow nurses for 1000php-5000php per month just to justify their existence as a nurse and not to be stagnant while waiting for greater opportunities to come.
That is why probably, the Philippine government was able to develop a program for the ever ending number of unemployed nurses. President Macapagal-Arroyo said that NARS will have a salary of 8000php per month with a stipend of 2000php per month if a nurse will be assigned in a specific rural area. This is a very good opportunity for our new graduates and new board passers, since the qualification is within the minimum requirement of being a professional. The NARS program can also be a field of expertise, making the new nurse globally competitive.
NURSING TRIVIA:
“Cuteness is one of the factors that determine how strongly a mother interacts with her infant. A 1995 investigation found that mothers of babies independently rated as more attractive were particularly affectionate and playful with their children, whereas mothers of less attractive babies provided routine care without much overt affection.” - Sprengelmeyer
ADULT ADHD IS REAL
Some may say, It's normal for people to have short attention spans. Normal attention would be 1 and half to 2 hours but then some just lose their temper and attention even for just a few minutes. These also coincides when people say it is normal for people to start things they don't finish. Well basically it is a sign of inattention. And lastly, it is normal for people to daydream. Especially for those with goals, ambitions and dreams.
But then contrary to what we all believe, something that is not within normal can be a disorder. It is real. These symptoms are manifestations that a disorder is real.
All people can be distracted at many times of their long day. Especially when they have been too busy and tired. Some may have started a long book, a craft project or a even a simple thought but then becomes distracted. This is quite normal. However, if it is more persistent, frequent and severe than any other normal individual, it becomes a disorder. It's called ADHD.
ADHD may be inattention or hyperactivity-impulsivisity. In either way, the individual had the disorder way back tracing his/her own childhood days. Poor parenting, poor childhood relationship and sometimes, physical abuse contributes to such disorder. Theorist of behavioral models have justified these concepts and has helped medical professionals in understanding the behavior and at the same time mnaging them.
