VISA BULLETIN UPDATE
It seems to me that there is nothing to lose but more to gain. Knowing that the visa process has been very slow and that the priority dates went back to 2003, what is in store for nurses like us? (See Related Article: Click here)
NURSING IS NOT A RIGHT, NOT EVEN A JOB. IT IS A CALLING... TO LOVE, TO CARE AND TO NURTURE.
I AM PROUD TO BE A NURSE!
The Nursing Profession
I was asked a couple of times why I entered the nursing profession and I am always reminded of the first time I enrolled in this field of study. I was in the midst of thinking and reflection during this time of my life. My mom was hospitalized due to endometriosis. She was in deep pain and suffering and I could not bear the pain she is going through. I talked to one of the nurses. I asked, " How is it like to be a nurse? You are very patient and I admire you." Surprisingly she said," This is my job so I have to do it. I do not have a choice."
How many more individuals are like her? I realized if all nurses are like this, what will happen to me when I grow old? Will there be any credible and patient nurse who will take care of me?
Through this conversation, I realized nursing is not just a job. It is a calling. If this nurse is only one of the health care providers with such perception, how many more nurses are not giving their utmost care? Nurses are supposed to love and care and nurture. And then I realized I can be like that, I can be a caring and loving nurse, with a mission to change lives, create hope, happiness and eventually love of individuals for themselves.
I realized, I am not a saint. I am not even a guardian angel. But then I can change lives, I can change every single individual that will be under my care if I will be the nurse. I can share to them my knowledge and my skills. I can be of good service. I can give them my knowledge, my skills, my smiles, my jokes, my stories...
Maybe then somehow, I can make a difference.... You too can make a difference...
